Hung-Chang Chu, graduated from Chinese Culture University in 1982, majoring in vocal music. His instructors were Cheng-Fang Chen, Hui-Mei Hung and Wen-Hsiu. In 1994, he entered into the graduate school of Music, National Sun Yet-Sen University, majoring chorus conducting with Russian American professor Peter Jermihov. In 1997, under the guidance of Dr. Wan-Lung Hung, he presented his thesis “The research of mixed chorus group training in senior high and vocational schools” and received his master’s degree in music.
His previous experiences included the acting principal, the dean of academic affairs and the dean of music class in Le-Yu Senior High school, the director of Kaohsiung Medical University and the lecturer of music course in National Kaohsiung Hospitality College.
In1985, he was designated to establish music classes in Le-Yu Senior High school. Many music and education talents were natured in this school. He also was invited to bring orchestra and chorus to perform in Japan, Australia, Vienna in Austria and Cologne in Germany. He had enormous experiences in music administration. In 1995, due to his special contribution, he was named the national excellent teacher and received the “Hung Dao” Award, which was the most honorary award in private schools.
In 1991, he worked with famous vocalists Ming Cheng and Yu-Wen Fang and performed chorus pieces such as Yellow River and Yellow Mountain. He conducted school chorus and won the first prize in the Taiwan Music Competition for seven years consecutively. He showed his talents in chorus conducting.He also participated in many concerts and worked with Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung City Chinese Orchestra, Taiwan Soloist Chamber Orchestra and Nan-Ying Orchestra.
In 2007, he was assigned to be the general director of Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra after opening audition. |
