Hsiao Pang-Hsing is recognized as a celebrated violinist and conductor. Graduated from the National Taiwan University of Arts and then went on the further studies at the Conservatorio di Musica “Benedetto Marchlle” in Italy. In 1985, he was invited to become the concertmaster and helping to found the Kaohsiung City Symphony Orchestra (KCSO).
In 1996, Mr. Hsiao was assigned as the conductor of KCSO. He gradually built up the Orchestra and developed an extensive repertoire ranging from the early baroque to contemporary masterpieces. He is lauded for leading the Orchestra on successful tours through Taiwan, China and the US.
Hsiao Pang-Hsing also works extensively as opera and ballet conductor, conducting numerous productions including Puccini’s La Boheme, Madam Butterfly, Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Bizet’s Carmen, and the Ballet La Sylphide.
Over the last two decades Mr. Hsiao has regularly appeared with some of the most well-known orchestras and recorded over 12 CDs. He is Music Director of the Taiwan Soloists Chamber Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor of Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and Conductor of Taichung City Symphony Orchestra. Also he has been guest conductor of Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Orchestra, Macau Chamber Orchestra…etc.
Working with students of all ages, Mr. Hsiao is also a well-known advocate for arts education in Taiwan. He is the founder and president of the Kaohsiung City Children String Orchestra, an orchestra established in 2000 providing music beginners a place to play and learn together. Also Mr. Hsiao is the president of the Taiwan Cultural Cup Music Competition Association, hosting a most prestigious music competition in Taiwan, providing a stage for outrageously young music talents. |
